A group of Chinese famille rose-decorated porcelain "Millefleurs" dinner wares guangxu six-character marks and of the period Comprising an oval dish, a sauceboat and joined stand (both with additional scratched mark CHINA), a 5" diameter bowl, two saucers, and seven 8 5/8" diameter plates. PROVENANCE: Dr. Robert Baker Ewan (1862-1926) and his wife Sarah Jane Lewthwaite (1861-1941), missionaries in Chengdu, circa 1900-1914. (Dr Ewan played a key role in establishing the Medical School at West China Union University.) Thence by descent to the great-grandchildren, the present owners.
