Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, late 19th/ early 20th centuryThe first of lobed form decorated in gold and silver takamaki-e, hiramaki-e and togidashi maki-e with chrysanthemums floating on a rushing stream, the sides decorated with autumn plants on a nashiji ground; the second, a kogo (incense box) decorated in gold takazogan with Ebisu sitting next to his staff surrounded by reishi fungus, and Buddhist symbols in takamaki-e and aogai on a mura nashiji ground. 6 1/4in (16cm) wide; 3in (7.6cm) diameter
