A Chinese Imperial doucai porcelain horse hoof shaped bowl, with a 6-character Qianlong mark and of the period. The bowl is decorated with a geometric band at the bottom and the main band features a circular flowering branch design with 4 pomegranates framing the leaf medallions. Dimensions are: 2 3/4 inches tall X 6 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Numerous chips and hairline cracks in the rim, with an additional chip in the base. The largest chip in the rim measures 5/8 inches long. Provenance: From the Slade family collection of Chinese ceramics and jade; assembled by three members of the family and by descent to the present owner. The collection was begun by Henry Adolphus Warre Slade (1869 - 1936), British businessman, member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (1908/09) and the Director of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation between 1900 and 1902. The collection was added to by his sons, Royal Navy Commander Gerald Gordon Slade, who fought in both World Wars, and his brother Maurice Gordon Slade. The Slade family hold peerage and are noted in Charles Mosley's.
