Exceptional Rhodonite Bowl


Idar-Oberstein, Germany Carved from a single rough specimen of Australian rhodonite, this beautiful mineral is one of nature's most striking, with its bright reddish-pink coloring. A uniform deep pink color, enlivened by the occasional black veining of manganese. The bowl's free form outline no doubt followed the original outline of the rough from which it was cut. Bowl making is a notable specialty of Idar-Oberstein carvers which lapidary artists in other countries have not mastered. Measuring 10 3/4 x 9 x 4 1/4in (22.9 x 11.4cm)
