|Probably more correctly referred to as the Aphrodite of Milos, it is thought to have been a work by Alexandros of Antioch between 130 and 100 BC. Now on display at the Louvre having been removed twice for safekeeping in 1871 during the Paris Commune and in 1939 at the outbreak of the Second World War. It was kept at the Chateau de Valencay along with Michaelangelo's Slaves and the Winged Victory of Samothrace.
