In the manner of Pierre-Philippe ThomireEach cast with a winged allegorical figure of Victory, holding aloft the candelabra with scrolled candle arms, standing on a sphere above a column support with milled decoration, 34cm wide, 34cm deep, 86cm high (13in wide, 13in deep, 33 1/2in high) (2)
|Winged Victories were commonly produced during Napoleon's rule as symbols of military triumph. A candelabra supported by a Winged figure of Victory by Pierre-Philippe Thomire made in Paris between 1810-15 can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
