|In 2010 David de Rothschild and his team made a pioneering voyage from San Francisco to Sydney. Their vessel, 'Plastiki', was a unique catamaran weighing 12 tons and composed of 12,500 recycled plastic bottles as well other renewable energy resources such as solar cell panels, wind turbines and bicycle generators to name just a few. Their mission was to highlight the extensive plastic waste in our oceans as well as other environmental issues threatening sea life. Respect for our planet and a desire to address ecological issues is an outlook shared by IWC and since 2007 they have been certified as a carbon-neutral enterprise having reduced their carbon emissions by 90% in just a few years.
