Pompeian Motif Polychrome Painted Low Table, Italy, late 19th/early 20th century, the top with a gouache on paper rendering based on Pompeian Third Style wall paintings, glazed and framed, apron carved and painted with swags and tassels, set on spiral-turned legs, recent acrylic cover, ht. 17, wd. 33 1/4, dp. 23 3/4 in. Provenance: Reportedly from the collection of Contessa Cesarina Pannocchieschi d'Elci. Estimate $1,500-2,500 Age cracks to the mounting board under the gouache, a few minor tears to the paper, one leg with additional glue block, minor losses to painted surfaces.
