After Jean-Baptiste Greuze (French, 1725-1805) The Wool Winder Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 13 x 9 3/4 in. (32.5 x 24.5 cm), framed. Condition: Puncture, patch reinforcements, retouch, craquelure. N.B. The painting at hand appears to be a 19th-century, mirror-image recreation of Greuze's painting The Wool Winder, c. 1759, an oil measuring 29 3/8 x 24 1/8 inches, in the collection of the Frick Museum in New York since 1943. The reversed composition suggests that the painting was copied after a print. Estimate $300-500 The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Condition requests can be obtained via email (lot inquiry button) or by telephone to the appropriate gallery location (Boston/617.350.5400 or Marlborough/508.970.3000). Any condition statement given, as a courtesy to a client, is only an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact. Skinner Inc. shall have no responsibility for any error or omission.
