丁卯夏五月端阳后二日虚舟温又新指画，温又新印。温虚舟，名又新，号野园居士，清嘉庆、同治年间皋兰人，其室名“半砚斋”、“磊石山之瞻斗轩”。温虚舟早年学画于兰州名画家松石老人唐琏，后来温虚舟成名后为老师捐资刊刻其书画理论专著《松石斋集》。温虚舟善画山水、牲畜，充满了盎然的生活情趣。因唐琏论画主张“骨格清奇，笔意生动”，所以温虚舟也“亲其师，信其道”，始终恪守着老师的教诲，故温虚舟与唐琏一样，多着笔于西北突兀的山川、黄河岸边的田园村舍，施以深浅浓淡的墨色，以厚朴稚拙的线条表现出烟云氤氲的沟壑山峦，纵横的阡陌、枝叶招展的树木。画面泼墨淋漓，充满潇疏淡逸之气。
