18th/19th centuryOf flattened ovoid form, carved in low relief with auspicious imagery, one side with a boy holding a chime as a bat flies overhead, all enclosed within a pomegranate shaped frame, the other side with a catfish and carp, the even white stone with a russet vein.2 1/4in (2.6cm) high
|The decoration on this bottle is filled with auspicious symbolism. The word for chime, qing is a homophone for 'celebration'; the bat represents blessings and the pomegranate-shaped frame symbolizes an abundance of offspring.
