钤印：严复 |释文：焕老吾兄爵使惠鉴。献岁已还笺候疏慢，驰仰盛德，与日俱深。寅维政体蒙禠，昭绩蔚起，曼祝无量，前者承赐家集薇盥，荘诵乃知，大河九曲。星海发源，硕德之兴，其来有自也。自帝制议起，海内颇有异同，顾时事臲卼如此，两方之人当以安国无扰为第一要义。吾兄闳识想复同之，比有读者门徒林令肇煌，素邀藻鉴。公察其才，如尚可造，愿畀以百里，使得自効。知左右素以裁成后进为怀，不然汲生亦不敢妄发耳。手此敬候春祺。愚弟严复顿首。二月五日。
