此壶体作四方，壶身以方正直线为之，壶把、壶钮亦成直角方形，壶流亦为直流方体，四方平底，壶钮四方，四方盖嵌于壶内，与壶紧密相扣，整壶透露出方正气象。清光绪八年《宜兴荆溪县新志》载：“（德林）工搏埴业，无所师承，而艺极精。凡茗壶、花盆、杯盘及一切书案陈设器具，色色工致，为一时之冠。……德林既以名陶称绝，不作奇淫器，士林重之。”壶身一面刻有诗文“玉壶难有故人心，曼生”，以诗表情，甚可玩焉！壶盖内钤“万泉”方印。
