以松花石为材雕琢而成。石质温润细洁，纹理自然清晰，色泽淡雅，近松绿色。后刻御题诗。砚椭圆形，砚堂砚池一体。松花砚，又名“松花玉”，与端砚、歙砚、洮砚齐名。清代时为宫廷御用珍品，以松花石为原料制成，产于中国东北长白山区。《格致镜原》载其“温润如玉绀绿无暇，质坚而细色嫩而纯滑不拒墨涩不滞笔，能使松烟浮艳，豪颖增辉，昔人所称砚之神妙无不具备，洵足超轶千古”
