|Speake-Marin,「Face to Face Tourbillon Magister」全球限量8枚,非常罕有紅金鑲鑽石陀飛輪自動腕錶,約2015年。附錶盒及證書。The Speake-Marin "Face to Face Tourbillon Magister" was made in a limited series of only 8 piece and was unveiled in 2016. The central motif on the dial depicts two chemically-etched skulls in a face-to-face standoff, separated only by the Roman numeral XII, the blued steel hour and minute hands and the hand-finished 60-second rotating tourbillon cage. Speake-Marin intended this timepiece as a Memento mori, translated as a "reflection of mortality" in Latin. This evocative wristwatch reminds all viewers that life is fleeting and precious, and what one does with every measured and treasured passing minute truly matters. In juxtaposition, Speake-Marin surrounds its skeletal subjects with a ring of 36 baguette-cut diamonds and diamond-set hour markers, totalling 2.16 carats, again playing on the symbolism that "diamonds are forever" whilst a human life must one day cease. The present example of Speak-Marin's "Face to Face Tourbillon Magister" is sure to enthral a new generation of watch collectors through its symbolism and artistry. Peter Speake-Marin, an English independent watchmaker, founded his company specializing in highly complicated timepieces in 2002. The company is presently based in Bursins, Switzerland. Speake-Marin was born in 1968 in Essex, England and graduated from Hackney Technical College in London in 1985. Speake-Marin studied at the prestigious watchmaking school La Fondation WOSTEP in Neuchâtel and afterwards worked at Somlo Antiques in London, as head of the antique watch restoration department. Seven years later in 1996, Speake-Marin moved back to Switzerland and worked for Renaud & Papi (now Audemars Piguet Renaud & Papi SA), developing and building high complications. Today, Speake-Marin is renowned for its provocative, story-telling high complications and creative horological prowess among today's leading independent watchmakers.
