A SILVER-INLAID BRONZE FIGURE OF MAITREYA, TIBET, 15th ct., seated in vajrasana on a lotus base placed on a throne cast with various emblems, both hands in vitarkamudra holding the stems of utpala and padma lotuses flowering along his upper arms, the latter supporting the kundika, wearing dhoti, its border finely incised with scrolling tendrils, cape draped around his shoulders, its streamers encircling the arms and the finials falling down, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with silver-inlaid downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, urna set with a turquoise bead, his hair combed in a chignon topped with the stupa and secured with a tiara, unsealed - Property from an important German private collection, publ.
