Seven-word-poem by the artist with signature: "On full moon in the tenth month in the jiashen year(1704) painted in the style of Huanghe shanqiao (Wang Meng, 1308-1385) and Juran (active ca. 976-993), Shiguzi Wang Hui." Five seals of the artist: "Seal of Wang Hui" (Wang Hui zhi yin), "Shigu", "Dayuan", "Gengyan sanren", "Laiqingge". Five genuine collector's seals of the well known collector and art connoisseur Liu Shu (1759-1816) from Suzhou: "Liu Shu zhen wan zhi yin", "Rongfeng jiancang", "Huabu Hanbizhuang shoucang", "Huabu Liu shi jia cang", "No'an'. One more collector's seal. Two scholars are strolling beneath a group of tall pines along a mountain creek and heading for a temple high in the mountains. The fine painting shows the characteristic literati style and brush handling of Wang Hui and is of excellent quality, but it is not by Wang Hui himself although it comes quite close to his hand - Property from an important European private collection - Minor wear
