A RARE GREEN-GROUND THANGKA ON SILK DEPICTING SYAMATARA, WESTERN TIBET, ca. 16th/17th ct., framed and glazed. The centre with Syamatara seated in lalitasana on a lotus rising from the primordial waters, both hands holding a lotus flower, wearing sari, bejewelled, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes, flanked by a pair of standing divinities, the upper register with eight Tara manifestations and the lower part with Vaishravana holding the nakula and a six-armed deity - Property from an old German private collection, acquired from Schoettle East Asian Art Stuttgart 18.12.1981, published catalogue 39, no. 3635, 1981 - Minor wear, few small water damages
