A BLACK STONE FIGURE OF SYAMATARA, Nepal, possible early Malla period, ca. 12th ct., seated in lalitasana on a lotus base, her right foot resting on a small lotus issued by the larger one, her right hand in varadamudra and the left in vitarkamudra, both holding stems of lotuses flowering along her shoulders, wearing sari, bejewelled, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, her hair combed in a chignon secured with a tiara and a flaming mandorla behind - Property from an Austrian private collection, acquired in the 1980s - Minor wearl, partly slightly chipped, the back with two drill holes and screws
