Siting impressed mark, Qing DynastyThe red clay thinly potted in a typical pear shape with well-rounded cover, the orange peel-surface patinated to a rich reddish-brown, the base of the handle incised 'Siting'. 11cm (4 3/8in) wide (2).
|Lu Siting was a famous potter from the early Qing period. He was particularly renowned for making pear-shaped teapots, such as the present lot; this particular shape of Yixing teapot was thus named after him.
