款识：燮臣仁兄大人正临，磊安弟张祖翼。|印鉴：磊翁、丙午 |释文：君昔在龟池，修崤嵚之道，德治精通，致黄龙白鹿嘉禾之瑞，故图画其像。|说明：上款人“燮臣仁兄”即孙家鼐（1827-1909），字燮臣，安徽六安人，晚清状元、政治家。1898年为京师大学堂第一任管学大臣，被聘为总教习。|作者介绍：张祖翼（1849-1917），字逖先、号磊盦，安徽桐城人。以拔贡生而官江苏知府。精金石考证，工篆隶行楷，隶为最，天骨开张，力韵兼擅。清末游日本，考察新政。晚年寓居沪上，与吴昌硕、高邕之、汪洵共称 “上海四书家”。
