Joaquim Miro Argenter (Spanish, 1849-1914), Parisian street scene, oil on board, ca. late 19th century CE. Signed in black on the lower right corner. Born in Sitges, Spain in 1849, Joaquim Miro Argenter was a self taught painter and became the founding member of the cultural society known as Casino Prado Suburense. He was also a dedicated member of the School of Catalan Luminism, a group of artists who connected in Sitges at the end of the 19th century and created a genre of painting with the intent of capturing the vibrant Mediterranean light in their work. Miro Argenter exhibited widely including at the Fine Arts of Sitges, Sala Pares, Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona, and at the Exhibition of Fine Arts in Barcelona.
