Attributed to Kano Tan'en (1805 - 1853).
Painted in ink and colour on silk, a portrait of a Chinese scholar at his desk in a circle shape panel, signed Tan'ensai Hogan Fujiwara Morizane hitsu, with two seals, mounted on a board, 70 x 98cm (painting), 112 x 151cm (board).

Kano Tan'en is the eight generation of the Kajibashi branch of the Kano school, he was employed by the Tokugawa shogunate as Goyo eshi.
