来源：张宗宪旧藏说明：此款砚滴为明代所制，甄选上品铜料精铸而成，外部洒金，包浆润实，保存完好。神兽作伸首状，腹中空，用以储水，背有圆孔。兽嘴留孔，为出水之用，可控制水量，构思巧妙。顶部一兽钮作盖，尾部雕龙头作柄。神兽形象生动，包浆温泽古雅。砚滴，亦名水滴，书滴，为研磨时滴水入砚的文房用具，形制有玄武、蟾蜍、熊、异兽等。《宣和博古图》著录之“汉龟蛇砚滴”为其最早见诸记载者。其形质对后世工艺制作、鉴古风尚等方面影响深远，甚为珍贵。
