月牙桌，俗称半桌，源自宋代，兴盛于明清。适合于居室和较小场合，靠墙或临窗，呈置花器、瓜果、赏石等清供类陈设品，别具风情；是文人空间中不可或缺之雅物。此石迎合了月牙桌依墙放置的特性，在特定的陈设空间中，仍不显局促，背面较为平整，无突兀犄角，正面孔洞弹坑穿插有致，颇具苍古，整石绞扭而上，犹如云腾雾起之势。这类赏石在宋代就颇受文人喜欢，明清时期多处古画上皆有描绘。
