In this beautiful tonal painting 'Poissonnières', Kimpe depicts fish wives selling the catch of the day on the market. Their large white caps from Zuid-Beveland seem to be floating on their tiny heads. The cracked symmetry in this composition, due to the asymmetric placement of the table, has a surprising effect on the spectator.. Resale right is applicable
