说明：又称朝板：是古代文武大臣朝见君王时，双手需要执笏以记录君命或旨意。材质硕大，较为少见，材质坚密，因年代久远，板面牙纹细腻，线条简练，包浆莹润。
最早出现在唐朝的宫殿上，大臣朝见君王时携带。在明朝，笏板虽然都是素身，但是可作官员进朝面圣的必需品。因为，在明朝每当大臣上朝和退朝时，宫廷的门卫会统一派发和收回属于每臣子的笏板, 私自保留笏板会被视为犯罪。而明代规定五品以上的官员才可执牙笏，五品以下执竹笏。
