|此器以写实手法描绘鸳鸯，釉色轻薄透亮，勾绘精致，造型端庄又不失灵气，轮廓富有线条感，显得格外凝重，外形逼真而细致，工艺精湛，实属典型官窑器，是清中期水平高超的艺术珍品。|崔豹的《古今注》中说：“鸳鸯、水鸟、凫类，雌雄未尝相离，人得其一，则一者相思死，故谓之匹鸟。”李时珍的《本草纲目》中也说它“终日并游，有宛在水中央之意也。或曰：雄鸣曰鸳，雌鸣曰鸯。”也有人认为“鸳鸯”二字实为“阴阳”二字谐音转化而来，取此鸟“止则相偶，飞则相双”的习性。
